Nine Months
Caleb turned exactly nine months old this morning at 6:41 am. We were all sleeping at that moment. :) In fact we all slept until 9 (he's still keeping Pacific Time Zone hours, it's nice). But we did take some photos this afternoon to document his growth, progress, and nearly-edible chubby cuteness. (Yes, those are fingernail scratches on his nose... so sad!)
The majority of this past month was spent traveling so it was a little crazy for him, but he did manage to learn a few new things: how to wave, drink out of straw, army crawl, grind his teeth (his first top tooth popped through the gum three days ago), clap, and destroy even the most industrial-looking jewelry. He's understanding better than ever that hidden objects (like by a blanket or a hand) are just hidden and haven't disappeared. He likes uncovering them.
Caleb is super tickelish and it really gets him laughing. I love this. (Please note that I took these four photos today and the lighting was terrible, so Tyler had to really work them in Photoshop to make them visible... thus the graininess.)
He still really gets a kick out of being thrown around and (gross) he still likes sucking on my hair.
Due to travels, his night sleeping has been anything but ideal. [Someday I'll sleep through the night for a whole week straight. Someday.] He's generally down to two naps per day, although occasionally we get a third.
He's also down to 4-5 nursings per days which is very convenient for me, but I have to admit that it makes me a little sad. He's tried lots of new food this month including chicken, ham, fresh potatoes, peas, sweet potatoes, mushrooms, beans, oranges, avocado, french fries, pretzels, tortillas, and probably some other things. We let him eat all the table foods we think he can handle. He's really good at eating large quantities of baby oatmeal with fruit puree mixed in, banana, cheerios, bread, and crackers of all kinds. He can feed himself small objects, just so long as they aren't slippery like banana pieces. Just in the last few days we've managed to get him to eat some baby food veggies again - imagine that!
We're so grateful to have our boy. We just love him so much!

It's so crazy to me that Caleb is so old! It feels like he was just born not so long ago. I agree that fingernail scratches are very sad :( Unfortunately, their little nails always grow faster than you can keep up with. Glad you guys are home, we missed you!
ReplyDeleteHe is a cutie!
