One Year

Okay, so it's a couple weeks late, but here are Caleb's one year stats and photos.  He measured in at 31.5 inches tall - 90th percentile and 23lb 15oz which is a drop to 50th percentile.  His head circumference is still 90th percentile.  He did not do well with the doctor at all this time.  He was not happy to be examined!  Oh well.

Developmentally he is at such a fun and adorable stage!  He LOVES to play chase/hide/peek-a-boo games with us.  The funny thing is that he'll often turn around and come back to you when you're chasing him.  He's so funny.  Tyler and I have noticed how much more he's understanding lately, phrases like "Can I have a kiss?" or "Put it in your mouth [ie instead of throwing it on the floor]" or "Take a drink" or "Caleb, come here."  We love it!  Sometimes he's an independent player, but not always.  He still demands to be played with sometimes.

Diaper changing is often a battle.  He squirms and twists and wants to flip over.  Sometimes he'll be perfectly calm, but other times not at all.  He's okay with getting dressed.  He's still using his first car seat since it goes up to 35lb and he still fits.  He can still sleep in it - hooray!

He's saying three words!!!  His favorite is WOW.  He says it all breathy with this total sense of awe when something is cool.  So cute!  He also says versions of Mom and Dada.  I don't hear Mom/Mama very often, but Tyler frequently reports it when we're the two of them are alone.  I heard Dada a lot and Caleb will say it to Tyler directly.  Typically on the weekends Tyler and I take turns sleeping in while the other is with Caleb in the early morning.  After an hour or two we go in to wake the last member of the family.  Caleb's really caught onto this.  Just about every morning after breakfast and playing for a bit, he heads to our bedroom saying "Dada da da dada da ..." the whole way.  He goes to Tyler's side of the bed and looks for him.  So adorable.

Caleb really likes dogs right now.  Whenever we see them he gets excited.  A couple times people have offered to let Caleb pet their dogs, which he usually is a little shy about, but he sure likes looking at them and giggles and says, "WOW" when they bark and/or look at him.  For his birthday we got him the big stuffed animal dog which he plays with everyday and as recently taken to cuddling with it.

Another development we love is how he plays with other kids his age.  They'll chase and smile and play peek-a-boo.  Of course they'll steal each others' toys too, but overall it's so cute.

He really just eats table foods at this point.  He eats more crackers and dry cereal as snacks than we do, but usually it is not specifically baby stuff.  He drinks water out of a straw at meals and during snacks and drinks soy or almond milk before naps and bedtime out of a sippy cup.  Despite the doctor's warnings, we weren't in a hurry to stop with the bottle for naps, but we lost the only one he tlikes about a week ago so we've transitioned!

Ok, here are the pictures!
